Behind the Dyker Heights Lights

The annual Dyker Heights Christmas Lights tradition started in 1980 – when one resident Lucy Sparta started decorating her house with over the top lights and décor. Although some neighbors weren’t thrilled, many of them started decorating their houses as well. Soon after, a tradition was born! Each year the brilliance (and creativity!) has grown even more. Some of the more elaborate homes even hire professional decorators to help light the way.

The Light Displays

The décor amongst the above green glow of this magnificent home has a cute backstory. The dancing bears represent each of the owners grandchildren. If a new grandchild is born into the family, a new bear will be added to the display.
