Trick or Treasure – Luna Park’s Halloween Adventure

Shiver me timbers – its the end of September! Which means Halloween planning is near… but there’s no need to fear! Halloween Harvest at Luna Park is the perfect place for little ones to bring in the fun fall season! From character appearances to the city’s best pumpkin patch and Halloween themed arts and crafts  – our favorite amusement park pulls out all the stops for Halloween! And the best part – its just a quick subway ride from the city!

Halloween Harvest at Coney Island is on the top of our holiday lists each year. Come along as we explore this years festivities, and experience the fun to be had as Luna Park is transformed into Treasure Island!

A Treasure Trove of Decor!

This years Halloween theme is Treasure Island – and walking through the elaborately decorated scenes, is like walking through a  Halloween Harvest Wonderland! The entire park was beautifully transformed into a fall fest, complete with hay bales, autumn flowers, pumpkins, and corn stalks, complete with a fun pirate theme, that even includes a fun plank to walk!

Jack’s Shack

Be sure to visit Jack at his cute shack near the Luna Park’s main entrance. Guess his weight and get a chance to win prizes worth over $1,000! (Note weight guess game is for adults aged 18 yrs and over). Winner announced with a final weigh-in on October 22nd. After the winner is announced Marc and the Maniac Pumpkin Carvers will transform Jack into their best Luna Park design yet! (Free!)

Amazing costumed characters are stationed throughout the park. Be sure to stop and get a treat! To receive a treat, it is important that this years “Trick or Treat”” has been replaced by “Trick or Treasure” with the fun theme! (Free!)

 Argghs and Crafts at Luna Park Halloween Harvest

Argghs & Crafts!

A Halloween celebration wouldn’t be complete without arts and crafts that you can keep! Make your own Halloween themed crafts at the (appropriately named) Argghs and Crafts tent. The craft activities change frequently and are sponsored by local organizations such as the Crafty Kids, the YMCA, and the Girl Scouts. During our visit we made a pirate ship! Arggh! (Free!)

Spooktacular Entertainment

Visit the Monster Mash stage for free entertainment – including dancing, contests, and more! (Free!) After – swing by to hear a story, take a ride on a pony, or transform into your favorite Halloween character with face painting! (Free with All Day Wristband!)

 

Blackbeard's Pumpkin Patch in Coney Island

Blackbeard’s Pumpkin Patch

Our families’ favorite activity: Blackbeard’s Pumpkin Picking! Such a fun patch within the park. Free with all day wristband, Children can choose a pumpkin from Blackbeard’s Patch, and paint the pumpkin on premise with the included paint and brushes.

It also allows for a tour of the mini corn maze, and whats left from Blackbeard’s ship!

The perfect pick! Children are invited to pick a pumpkin from the bales of hay display.

Decoration time! The pumpkin painting tables are arranged with tablecloths and numerous paint options, under a pirate ship sail. After – the Luna team will hold your pumpkin for you on a rack until it dries. Pick it up later after you’re done with the rides! (Brilliant!)

All activities take place from 2pm-6pm every weekend from September 16th – October 29th. The Halloween Harvest Experience, including pony rides, pumpkin patch, face painting and more is included with the purchase of an all day wristband.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Don’t miss the Dog Parade and Costume Contest on October 14th, and the Maniac Pumpkin Carving Demonstration on October 22nd!
