We ADORE travel related children’s books and cannot get enough of them in our house. Inspirational and educational – a great travel book allows little ones an adventure from your couch, and opens curious minds to new destinations and fun travel possibilities.
We were delighted to learn that Author Gabrielle Balkan and illustrator Sol Linero, the team that brought us the beloved book “50 States,” have released the book “50 Cities of the U.S.A.” just in time for gifting season. The book features 50 of the beloved cities in the USA, from Anchorage to Washington D.C., and everything in between – this book is a young adventurers dream.

Published by Wide Eyed Editions, this beautifully illustrated 112-page book contains more than 2,000 fun facts, all celebrating the people, culture, and diversity that have helped make America what it is today. 50 Cities highlights include famous city residents (a mix of famous residents and lesser known faces), iconic landmarks and obscure interests, and even a fascinating “A Day in….” city section – which gives an hourly account of things to do in the city throughout the year.

Each of the cities are featured beautifully on a two-page spread, and showcases key facts – including population, local lingo, nicknames, bragging rights, and a fun “Can you Find?” listing that directs the reader to find cleverly placed objects throughout the page spread.
Of course we turned straight to one of our favorites – New York City!
We especially loved discovering the New York City page – and even as seasoned New Yorkers, we were delighted to learn about places that even we didn’t know before , and interesting facts and tidbits on our amazing city. Did you know that the first Children’s Museum in the world opened here in Brooklyn? Or that there is a Treasures in the Trash Museum in Manhattan? We didn’t, and now can’t wait to visit.
Can’t wait to learn more about the many other cities that we adore! 50 Cities is the perfect book for city adventurers, and curious travel seekers of all ages. We will definitely be gifting many copies of these this Holiday season.
