Wheely Fun Time! Lil Kid on our latest adventure – a bike ride through Central Park!
I have a confession. I’ve been a New Yorker for 15 years – and have never biked Central Park. (gasp!) I’ve been to the park uncountable times, and have always watched others bike on by, jealous of their wheels and (imaginably) amazing experience. Let’s do that someday! I’d say… yet somehow I was never made it to renting a bike and exploring the world’s greatest park on wheels.
This has now changed! We teamed with Central Park Sightseeing for an incredible biking experience, that I wish I had done years ago.
We arrived to an amazing sea of bikes perfectly aligned. An awesome sight that made us excited for our day!
Central Park Sightseeing is located on 56th street, just a few short blocks from Central Park South. They offer a plethora of amazing rental bike options as well as bike tours, pedicab tours, horse carriage tours, tickets to attractions and more. Central Park Sightseeing is truly a one stop shop, and guaranteed to have something for everyone, including special bikes and accessories for the littlest explorers.
The process of renting a bike was quite easy – and took no time at all. Sign a few papers, get fitted for a helmet, and that’s it! We were ready to roll!
Helpful information on bike safety and biking guidelines were given out to all riders. The back of this sheet included an awesome map of Central Park and clearly detailed all major park highlights and sights.
A special ride for Lil Kid today – his own trailer! What an amazing accessory! We opted to try this instead of a child seat on the back of the bike, as it seemed like a more comfortable option for a long day of park exploring.
He loved it, and jumped right in! These trailers are great, and can technically fit two smaller children if needed. There’s even a small “trunk” in the back for personal belongings.
And we’re off! Lil kid loved riding in his special trailer, and was grinning from ear to ear the entire time.
Our view from the road. An absolute magical experience to ride through Central Park – riding alongside New Yorkers, horses, and pedicabs – you feel as if you are one with the city. Gazing at the lush greens, trees, and city view is nothing short of amazing.
Along the path we came across Central Park Carousel.
One of Lil Kid’s favorite carousels, we couldn’t resist a quick spin.
Riding High! He loved it!
Back on the road!
Next we headed over to Bethesda Terrace – located mid-park on 72nd street.
This gorgeous terrace and fountain over looking the Loeb Boathouse is the center piece to Central Park.
The terrace is stunning as well – and great for exploring.
A quick snack break! Lil Kid picking out a snack.
Cooling off by the bikes.
Back on the road – just look at these views!
Next – a quick stop to catch a game at the Ballfields! Love how the park comes alive with community events and activities.
A quick bite at our favorite restaurant – The Ballfields Café! This hidden gem is the perfect place to fill hungry little bellies and refersh.
And to hydrate after a long afternoon of biking!
The view was stunning!
A long day of biking – we sadly start to head back to return our rides. It was such a fun experience we didn’t want it to end!
Returning the bikes was painless and easy.
It’s official… we’ve biked New York!!
Thank you Central Park Sightseeing for such an amazing experience!
