Color outside the lines and see the magic of Crayola come to life at the Crayola Experience! There is no way better to beat the boredom blues then to immerse yourself in color and creative tools at this amazing mega-complex. There are 4 floors of activities to explore – from going on a 4-D adventure, seeing how crayons are made, to starring in your own coloring page – the Crayola experience has endless creative fun for little ones. A great day trip from NYC (a perfect Spring Break activity!) the Crayola Experience is a must see.
A colorful world awaits at the Crayola Experience
Come along as we explore this colorful mecca floor by floor, and see why the Crayola Experience may be the most colorful place on earth!
The Crayola Experience – 1st Floor
The first floor of the Crayola experience includes easy breezy admission desk, retail store, cafe, an open coat room, locker rental and bathrooms. There is also a fun picture opportunity! Say “Crayola” against a green screen (and pick up your fun picture before exiting for a small fee).
Token to Fun
Each family receives an easy to follow map, tokens, and a clear bag with admission. The tokens unlock magical fun throughout the four floors, and the bag is to help carry all the colorful creations that will be made throughout your visit.
The World’s Largest Crayon
Prominently displayed in the entry way of the 1st floor – the World’s Largest Crayon is a must see (and the perfect place for another fun family photo opportunity!).
Born in 2003 – Big Blue was created from 123,000 leftover blue crayons donated from children across the country in an effort to break the world record. This blue beauty weighs in at 1,500 lbs and is 15 feet in length and 16 inches in diameter. Color-rific fact: you could draw a straight line for nearly 10 miles with this crayon!
The Crayola Experience – 2nd Floor
The second floor is the largest of the complex with many amazing experiences – here we highlight some of our favorites!
Wrap it Up!
Color fans can create an authentic label and wrap your own crayon at this fun-filled station. Simply place a token into one of the crayon color machines of your choice. The machine gives you an unwrapped crayon and allows you to create your own creative crayon label. With your crayon and label in hand – the next step is the wrapping station. The machines at the station aid in placing the label directly on the crayon. They are completely safe and easy to use – making it a fun and interactive process that little ones can do.
We loved wrapping our own custom crayons! A great activity, and a perfect keepsake memory.
The walls here are wrapped too – with fun snapshots from Crayola’s history. History scenes and colorful learning opportunities are seen throughout the Crayola Experience.
Modeling Madness
Sculpt colorful Model Magic creations with Crayolas fun fluffy compound. Purchase your favorite modeling color at the vending machines with a token and head to the tables that are outfitted with a variety of sculpting tools in bins.
Color Magic
Make your coloring page come to life at this fun 4-D adventure! The machines scan your drawing and turns it into a interactive cartoon. After – you can email yourself the creation. We love how Crayola is brilliantly mixing art, technology and imagination into the experience!
Be a Star!
Ready…set…smile! Take your own selfie at the Be a Star station – and then print your creation for a super fun custom coloring page! Be sure to grab the whole family for this one – there’s no better keepsake then a custom coloring page family portrait!
Colossal caddy
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have this amazing colored crayon selection at home? Bring your print outs from the Be a Star experience and color them at this larger then life coloring stop! Holding literally thousands of crayons, the color creations that can be made here are endless.
Toddler Town
Little ones will love the toddler town play space, which includes a small climbing apparatus, light board, and more.
Crayola Factory Show
My favorite part of the experience- the live Crayola Factory show! Crayola’s resident Crayonologist and animated cartoon friends Scarlet and Turk give a live theater performance detailing how crayons are created! The show runs frequently throughout the day, and is chocked full of fun crayon facts and discoveries. Did you know that Crayola creates 2.5 billion crayons a year? That 6 of the top ten colors are blue? A fun and engaging show for color fans of all ages. This show is a must see during your visit.
The Crayola Experience – 3rd Floor
WATER WORKS
This activity is amazing water fun! Maneuver and splash fun crayon boats in a watery path through Crayonopolis that includes canals, levies, and more at this one of a kind 85-foot water table attraction. Warning,: You may get a little wet!
Color Playground
Little ones need to burn off some extra energy? The third floor is home to a massive Crayola Climber – a 2-story indoor playground! From climbing through obstacles, chalk walk area, and dry-erase safari, and the perfect way to get some creative physical activity into your visit.
Activity Studio
Projects here are ever changing – and range from painting, coloring, cutting and gluing! The project during our visit – a magic hat! (Which couldn’t be a more perfect match for our little hat fan!).
Doodle in the Dark
A special room dedicated to “in the dark” fun – including doodle boards, game stomp interactive floor, and this amazing interactive wall where you can move and groove with your favorite crayola characters.
The Crayola Experience – 4th Floor
Melt and Mold
Watch your favorite crayon melt into a fun souvenir keepsake! It was fun to watch the crayons transform into different shapes.
Meltdown and DRIP ART
Paint in a whole new way at this station – by melting a crayon and spraying the color into an awesome artwork! After – a (potentially messy) experience is the Drip Art station. Take your pick of multiple colors and paint with sticks with melted crayons.
The Crayola Store
This store is incredible, and holds the largest and most unique Crayola products and assortemnts we’ve ever seen! Our favorite – the Pick Your Pack located on the back wall. Choose a container and fill it to the brim with your own personal crayon and marker picks. Of the selection – rare metallics, neons, and glitter crayons.

- There is a full cafe on site with a wide menu selection such as pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and kids meals.
- Crayola offers free cafe shows and character appearances – check the daily schedule upon arrival for times!
- Standard admission includes few tokens – which was enough for our experience. Additional tokens are available for purchase if needed.
- Children may get a little wet at the water table – bring backup clothing just in case.
