Getaway with the Family – Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, Lake Placid

We have fallen in love with the Adirondacks this year.  In a matter of a few months, we have visited Lake Placid twice, and came back to stay at Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort for a 2nd time. A testament to how much we love this area, and this incredible resort.

How could you beat this golden view? It simply doesn’t get better than this lakefront property. With its amazing family friendly amenities, and its central, main street location in Lake Placid – The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort is the perfect place to stay when exploring the city and surrounding areas. We are already planning a third trip to take in the magic of a lakeside Winter! Read on as we discover why this resort is one of our favorites.

Golden Arrow Resort – Rooms

Golden Arrow Resort offers several different room and suites to fit any need and budget. Whether you are looking for a family suite, pet-friendly accommodation in Lake Placid, or a specialty room with unique features and designs, or an (epic!) view of Mirror Lake, Golden Arrow has you covered. All rooms feature mini refrigerators, microwaves, Keurig single cup coffee brewers, hair dryers & free internet access. Guest Suites with a full kitchenette are available, which are great for families traveling with small children! Visiting in the winter? Request one of the fireplace rooms for a warm and cozy stay just steps from the lake.

We had a lakeside room during our visit and were OBSESSED with the view (the above was taken from our room!). The balcony on our room was awesome – we had coffee out there in the morning and cozied up with a book and a glass of wine during the evening. It made our stay so relaxing; we couldn’t get enough of soaking in the views.

Golden Arrow Resort – Amenities

The resort has a large heated indoor pool that is part of a large relaxation area with two whirlpool tubs, a steam bath, and a sauna. During Covid times, the pool is open by reservation only to control capacities. While closed for the time being, the resort also has a state-of-the-art fitness center with treadmills, exercise bikes, weights, strength training machines, yoga mats. Check the website for updates. Can’t wait to try out the gym next time!

Golden Arrow Resort – Dining

The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort has its very own restaurant: Generations. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner – Generations offers a great range of fine dining dishes and casual, family fare, with plenty of American staples and North Country classics on the menu. The restaurant is easy to access direct from the hotel with wonderful views of Mirror Lake. During Covid, Generations offers reduced capacity indoor dining, outdoor dining on the terrace, and the also offer a takeout option for those who would rather eat from the comfort of their room.

Golden Arrow Resort – Activities

One of the best parts about staying at Golden Arrow is huge variety of activities you can enjoy right on the property. In the summer months, it’s all about the private sandy beach which is perfect for swimming, and lake activities.  Row boats, kayaking and paddle boarding are available, and the best part – ALL watersports are included! We took out the boats multiple times, swam in the water, and fished from the docks and piers. We also loved the convenient snack bar right on the beach that had a wide variety of sand toys for kids to borrow and use during their stay.

Wintertime brings dog sled rides, toboggan rides, ice skating on the lake, skiing trips to nearby locations around the mountains. Don’t forget to have a s’more at one of the resorts lakeside bonfires!

Golden Arrow Resort – Location

Its all about the location, right? Golden Arrow’s quote “The Only Thing We Overlook is the Lake,” could not be truer. Golden Arrow is located so close to Mirror Lake – you literally could not be closer to the lake without a boat. Aside from its jaw dropping, awe-inducing lake side vistas, Golden Arrow Resort has an unrivaled location – its directly on Main Street and only steps away from fun shopping and dining, and the famed Olympic Village and the heart of Lake Placid. We loved that we could step right outside the resort, walk a few blocks, and have a number of incredible restaurants and stores to choose from.

Lake Placid Fun

Situated right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, the alpine village of Lake Placid has a prime location for fun explorations. Just a short drive from the resort, we explored the W!ld Center in Tupper Lake, High Falls Gorge nature park, and Whiteface Mountain – which was just 20 miles away. The fun activities are endless!
