Keys to the City – PianoPiano Rentals in NYC

This year, when talking about extracurricular after-school activities and classes, our little guy immediately requested piano lessons. He had previously taken piano lessons at a local instructor’s apartment, and absolutely loved it, and has been wanting to start up again. We were reluctant to because we regularly ran into issues with scheduling. This, coupled with the commute back and forth to the instructor’s apartment, became a bit consuming. While we liked the lessons, it simply wasn’t working, and caused more stress than needed.

After speaking to friends we heard of a brilliant service called PianoPiano that delivers pianos right to your doorstep. How amazing is that?!  The service includes delivery of the piano, the piano tuning, and setting you up with everything you need (and even helping you locate an in-home instructor or one at your local school!). The best part? Its totally affordable, and it couldn’t be easier! We signed up immediately!

Choosing a Piano

Whether you are a professional pianist, or just beginning lessons, PianoPiano has the right piano for you. There’s over 40 piano models to choose from – from baby grands to uprights, to classic pianos and acoustic. PianoPiano has experts to help you choose the right piano over the phone or email, online, or you can also visit the showroom if you want to try the pianos for yourself.

Seriously, I had NO idea where to start (or anything about pianos!) so I had concerns over picking a piano. Our process couldn’t have been easier – we just simply clicked online and took a quick piano survey, and within minutes PianoPiano was suggesting what Piano would be best for our family.

The Rental Process

Shouldn’t life be simple? Quite simply – PianoPiano is the most flexible and affordable way to have a piano. Rentals start as low as $38 per month, PianoPiano offers full delivery and pickup, the flexibility of rental timing and choice, and the ability to exchange the rental at any time.  What we love – its not a life commitment. While we hope this is a life-long interest – we know that just because  our little guy wants to play today, it does not mean that this will hold true in 6 months from now. PianoPiano offers a piano when you want it, without the commitment or forced long term contract.  You have the choice to continue renting the piano for weeks, months, or years.

Alternatively – if the lessons show incredible interest – PianoPiano offers rent-to-own options. The first 12 months of the rental goes toward purchasing the piano if you decide to stick with it. How cool is that? Most people choose to rent forever, because they do not want to worry about selling. You never worry about selling your piano or giving it away, when you’re done, PianoPiano picks it up.

For New York Apartments

My biggest concern with a piano was space. To say New York apartments are small is an understatement! PianoPiano offers pianos of all sizes (and many with a small footprint) that fit easily in New York City sized spaces.  We were able to find one that fit out living room needs. Bonus – PianoPiano offers silent pianos, made perfect for NYC apartment buildings as it helps to not disturb the neighbors, or other members in the household. These silent pianos allow you to play using headphones. Brilliant!

The Benefits of Piano

The benefits of Kids (or anyone!) playing piano are endless. Playing a musical instrument has a number of benefits that can help students and artists excel in more than just music playing. It enhances concentration, strengthens hand muscles,  and teaches patience.  Documenting the kids’ lessons over time, showing them practice, their progress and success in learning; is amazing for building confidence.

Can’t wait to see how our PianoPiano shapes our little guy over the next few months. Follow along on Instagram HERE.
