Lil Kid visiting Stonewall Inn, Greenwich Village. The red brick façade of the Stonewall Inn has served as the backdrop to countless passages in history of the gay rights movement. It was there that the 1969 riots took place – where patrons fought back against police raids on Stonewall Inn.

Stonewall continues to be an important part of history. Currently outside, a memorial to Orlando – with countless flowers, candles, letters, signs, and an outpouring of love.

President Obama designated Stonewall Inn and the surrounding area as the country’s first National Monument to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights.

Across the street from Stonewall Inn – the Gay Liberation sculptures, in Greenwich Village Park.

These sculptures by George Segal honor the gay rights movement and commemorates the events at Stonewall Inn, opposite the park, that gave rise to the movement.

Today the sculptures are surrounded by flowers, candles, and lets – and acts as a memorial for people to pay their respects to the horrific Orlando events.

On the day we visited the park was alive with a beautiful outpouring of support, including a keyboard plyer and crowds of people joining hands and standing together.

We Stand with Orlando, and New York.
