When is the last time you got away, without the family? To be honest, I can’t even remember mine. It has been many (many!) years since I took the time to relax and unwind, away from the family. After the last year of juggling work, childcare, becoming a teacher and a zoom manager, and spending essentially every waking hour together, I needed a break. I know I am not alone. It has been a tough year for moms across the globe.
When we heard that Hilton created incredible hotel packages for Mother’s Day, I was immediately intrigued. A night away, just for me?
Hilton Hotels recognize the immense support that moms have unconditionally given their kids this year – and understand that moms need a bit of time to themselves. In fact, according to a survey last year, time alone was mom’s #1 most-requested gift. In honor of Mother’s Day, select Hilton hotels across the Americas have created packages where mom can be on her own schedule, relax and unwind, and have a moment to reconnect with herself.
The Conrad New York Downtown, right here in New York City, is offering one of these amazing packages. Called Girlfriend Getaway, the package allows Moms to reconnect with their best girlfriend, spend the night catching up in suite accommodations and wake up to breakfast for two, including two glasses of Prosecco. The best part: no kitchen cleanup required! More than just the room and breakfast, the package also includes 20% off at the wellness shop Clean Market, and a Jo Malone gift.
A brilliant idea, right? And so very needed. We were so excited.
Safety First: A Cleaner Stay from Check-in to Check-Out
Safety First! During these times of covid, I always start with safety. Hilton has partnered with the makers of Lysol® to help deliver an even cleaner stay for guests with the Hilton CleanStay program. Building upon their existing rigorous cleaning standards, the program includes additional measures such as extra disinfection of top 10 high touch areas in guest rooms (think areas like light switches, remotes and door handles), increased cleaning frequency of public areas, and contactless check-in and check-out with digital keys. I was impressed with the Hilton CleanStay Room Seal on the room. This seal indicates that guest rooms haven’t been accessed since they were cleaned. These added layers of hygiene practices gave me the utmost confidence that my stay was safe.
Conrad New York Downtown: Location
I’ve recommended this hotel to visitors for years as it has an incredible location. A true Urban Oasis – it’s far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city, however close enough to be convenient to many top attractions. The Conrad New York Downtown is just minutes of a walk from major city destinations such as the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade, and the Oculus. It’s also in close proximity to TriBeCa and SoHo.
Traveling with a family? The Conrad New York Downtown is adjacent to the (gorgeous) Hudson River Park, which runs along the river. The hotel is steps away from Rockefeller Park which has an amazing playground for kids. A block away you will find Brookfield Place, a retail shopping center with incredible restaurants and dining hall. A few blocks further is Pier 26, a pier with a fantastic playground, mini golf, sand volleyball and more – a perfect spot for kids!
Conrad New York Downtown: A Grand Entrance
What an entrance! Walking into the lobby of the Conrad New York feels like you have walked into a museum. The bold, site-specific ten-story installation in the hotel atrium welcomes guests; artist Sol LeWitt’s extraordinary Loopy Doopy (Blue and Purple) is epic.
With an entrance like this, you know that modern and contemporary art is an essential part of your stay. There are over 2,000 works of art throughout the hotel’s public spaces and guest suites. From bold, site-specific commissions as well as more intimate, specially commissioned lithographs in the guest suites by Mary Heilmann, Elizabeth Peyton and Sara Sosnowy. These pieces, and many of the other artworks on view throughout the Conrad New York, were selected in collaboration with the Public Art Fund.
Conrad New York Downtown: A Suite Stay
Each spacious suite is outfitted with a separate living room area and bedroom area, which I loved. Each room has integrated technology, a Nespresso machine, and a high-tech filtered water station with reusable bottles (an amazing amenity!) and a Nespresso machine. There is complimentary WiFi, two 42 inch flat-screen HD TVs (one in the living room, one in the bedroom) and a well stocked mini-bar for connivence. The luxurious rainfall shower was epic. Bathrooms include plush bathrobes, slippers, and complimentary designer toiletries. (Seriously, I may never leave this room!)
I really appreciated the safety pack that included hand sanitizer, wipes, gloves and a mask.
Conrad New York Downtown: Girlfriend Getaway
Love that the Conrad New York Downtown created this carefully curated hotel package to help celebrate mothers. I was really excited to reconnect with one of my friends. During this crazy year we haven’t had much time to hang together, and there’s so much to catch up on! We made ourselves a Nespresso and sat for hours sharing stories. and filling each other in on whats been happening.
We even did a little shopping! We walked over to Brookfield Place and browsed the many retailers. With the Mother’s Day package we were given a discount to Clean Market. We browsed their wellness shop and checked our their services, including the cryotherapy and sauna treatments. Such a great store!
The next morning; an absolutely amazing breakfast with a glass of Prosecco, and a Mother’s Day gift from Joe Malone. The Joe Malone Gift came wrapped in the most adorable package, and contained a sampling of some of the brand’s best products. The food was beyond. I ordered the avocado toast, my friend an omelette, and honestly – we were both raving about how delicious it was. I would go back just to have that meal again!
Even better than the avocado toast, I can not explain to you how amazing it felt to take a day for myself. Reconnecting with my friend over drinks, catching up on sleep, waking up to an absolutely delicious breakfast the next day with a glass of Prosecco, was magical. Even better – there was NO schedule.
While in the real world, schedules will always exist, but making time to take care of yourself also needs to be a priority on your must-do list. Ready to get away? The Girlfriend Getaway Girlfriend Package is available from May 5th –12th.
