New York Transit Museum Family Benefit Celebration – A Party on Wheels

The NYC Subway is turning 120, and the New York Transit Museum is celebrating by having a party on wheels!

On Sunday, May 5th, the New York Transit Museum will present Party on Wheels, a fundraising event for families, celebrating the 120th birthday of the NYC Subway! We are honored to announce that Little Kid Big City has joined as a media partner to the festivities.

Activities + Events – Party on Wheels

There are many incredible perks for this beloved fundraiser. Families will have special access to the museum before it opens to the public and can participate in fun transit themed activities – including scavenger hunts and craft making. There will also be face painting, musical performances, and a special photo booth where you can pose as a conductor in a train.

Ride a Vintage Train – Party on Wheels

As an extra special treat, the benefit allows UNLIMITED rides on the vintage trains! The New York Transit Museum starts up the engines on the vintage fleet and allows benefit attendees to ride the subway cars between the Museum platform to Hoyt-Schermerhorn station and back (the only time all year that any train in the Museum’s collection offers rides departing directly from the Museum’s platform!). Adults, kids, and all ages in between will have a blast enjoying rides on the vintage subway cars. A very special experience you dont want to miss!

A breakfast buffet will be available, and because it’s a birthday celebration, the party will conclude with a birthday cake for all.

The 2024 Party on Wheels is the first in-person family fundraiser since the Museum’s 18-month closure during the pandemic. Proceeds from the event support the New York Transit Museum’s education programs for kids and families, including the award winning access programs for kids with disabilites.

Make tracks to this wonderful event! Hope to see you there.
