Happiness is Peanuts public art on the streets of NYC!
Children’s Museum of the Arts has collaborated with Peanuts Worldwide on an incredible Global Artist Collective taking over the streets of lower Manhattan. For the next 3 months you can find Charlie Brown and his cast of comic book characters hanging out in Hudson Square, where beautiful Peanuts murals depicting the beloved friends will be on display for the public to experience, giving the gift of art to adoring fans of all ages.
Behind the Strip
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the entire “Peanuts” gang are a beloved memory for so many, but who is behind this comic strip legacy? Charles M. Schulz was the creative mastermind of Charlie Brown and the gang. At the height of its incredible reach, the Peanuts comic strip was featured in 2,600 newspapers, in 75 countries, in 21 languages (!) touching the lives of millions of fans across the world. He personally created every one of the ‘Peanuts’ comic strips between October 2, 1950 and February 12, 2000, which totals a staggering 15,391 daily strips and 2,506 Sunday strips to his credit.
His art has influenced innumerable authors, writers, filmmakers, and painters, and still to this day the Peanuts gang continues to entertain and inspire the young and the young at heart.

A Global Collective
The New York City murals kick off the US leg of the Peanuts Global Artist Collective tour, a worldwide, public art initiative designed to bring communities together through the universal Peanuts themes: including hope, resilience, and unrequited love. The murals in Hudson Square will be on display for three months.
The artists chosen are from New York’s contemporary art scene, and include: Mr. A, Nina Chanel Abney, AVAF, FriendsWithYou, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Rob Pruitt, and Kenny Scharf. Each was allowed to mix classic Peanuts imagery with their own artistic vision.
A comic book with such global reach, it makes sense to bring this to streets aroud the world. There are currently murals up in San Francisco, Paris, Seoul, and Berlin, and will be up in Tokyo and Mexico City within the next 2 weeks.
