Magentaverse – Behind the Color of the Year Selection
How is the color selected? Color experts at the Pantone Institute search the world looking for new influences every year; from the entertainment industry to fashion, travel and economic conditions, new technologies and materials, to social media platforms and sporting events. The result; An unconventional shade for an unconventional time: PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta.
As per Pantone, the color was chosen as it “merges the richness, warmth, and strength of natural matters with the rich, open horizons of the digital world.” The color team stated that the pinkish-red hue “expands our horizons of authenticity. The metaverse creates new opportunities for us to express ourselves, and the raw fortitude of Viva Magenta inspires us to do so with confidence and bravery.” Read the full explanation HERE.
Artechouse Magentaverse – Art Inspiration
The digital installation takes samples from several sources, including inspiration, shapes, and materials from nature, NASA, and amazing outer space footage from the James Webb Space Telescope. These inspirations create a bit of revelation with the color, and are shown in multiple distinct chapters of video storytelling.
Artechouse Magentaverse – What to Expect
Magentaverse centers on the 22-minute cinematic journey of the character and depth of Viva Magenta within the digital Immersion Gallery. The experience is powered by a unique blend of technologies, including an 18-channel floor-to-wall panoramic projection and a spatialize audio system allowing for total immersion. You may sit, stand, or walk freely around the space during the show (we recommend doing all 3 to get a complete feel of the experience!). If you choose to sit you can grab one of the provided cushions, which are included with admission.
The space is divided into two levels. The bottom level is the immersive projection, the top is a bar and gallery space. The bar severed both cocktails and (alcohol free) mocktails. Be sure not to miss the gallery! The interactive gallery elements are fascinating for all ages.
Artechouse Magentaverse – For Kids
This unique immersive experience that feels a bit more like a virtual reality game set than an art exhibit is great for kids! Children under 4 may enter free. Good to know: Kids are welcome to walk around freely, dance, and enjoy the art at leisure. The perfect experience to inspire creativity, and spark interest and curiosity in this digital art form.
