Best way to beat the heat? Take a ride on THE BEAST! The Beast is New York’s only jet-powered speed boat attraction. The boat rockets you at a heart-pounding 45 mph through the Hudson, as you roar down the river with lots of twists, turns & fast-moving action. It feels like a Roller Coaster on the water! It is a serious splash (and yes, you will get wet!). Whether you’re a local looking for a new perspective on your city or a visitor seeking an unforgettable adventure – It is a ride like no other. Buckle in as we discover The BEAST.
The BEAST: Behind the Speed
The BEAST is a 70-foot offshore racing powerboat specifically designed for speed and excitement. Operated by Circle Line, The BEAST is New York’s only jet-powered thrill ride speedboat attraction! Don’t be fooled – The BEAST isn’t just a monster on the surface. The fierce watercraft has 1400 BHP-horsepower with two ZF 3000 marine gears powered by twin Hamilton Jets, rocketing you through the water at a heart-pounding 40 knots (about 45 mph). This custom-built speedboat combines high-octane thrills with the picturesque backdrop of New York Harbor.
The BEAST: Ride Experience
As passengers board The BEAST, they are greeted with blaring rock music, setting the tone for the wild ride ahead. Once everyone is securely seated and briefed on safety protocols, the real fun begins. The ride kicks off with a burst of speed, leaving a spray of water in its wake. Passengers can feel the wind whipping through their hair as The Beast zips past famous NYC landmarks. The 30-minute adventure includes sharp turns, high-speed spins, and plenty of splashes, ensuring that riders are drenched during the trip (don’t worry, at these speeds – you dry super quick!).
City Sights and Epic Views
While the thrill of the ride is the main attraction, The BEAST also offers spectacular views of New York City’s most famous sights. The journey takes passengers past the towering skyscrapers of Manhattan, providing epic photo opportunities. The highlight of the ride is a close-up encounter with the Statue of Liberty. The boat slows down near Liberty Island, allowing passengers to capture stunning pictures and take in the moment. The staff even helps you to take pics!
Safety and Accessibility
Despite its high-speed antics, safety is a top priority for The Beast’s crew. Passengers are required to wear seat belts, and the boat is equipped with state-of-the-art safety features. The crew, trained in maritime safety, ensures all guests are secure and comfortable throughout the ride. While the ride is suitable for most ages, it’s important to note that The Beast is not recommended for young children, pregnant women, or individuals with certain health conditions due to the intense nature of the experience. Good to know:
- Riders must be 40” tall to ride.
- Kids must be able to sit in their own seat without assistance (no lap rides).
- The Beast is loud and extreme – and not for the faint of heart. You WILL get wet, but don’t worry – at these speeds, it dries quickly!
- All riders are required to wear a seat belt.
- Hold on to your hat! Things like hats and sunglasses can fly away during the boat ride.
