What’s the deal with this place? Seinfeld Pop-Up!

What’s the deal with this?

Seinfeld: The Apartment – a temporary exhibit created by Hulu in celebration of the launch of the show being added to their streaming service – opened in New York city for a limited time.

Giddy Up! As loyal Seinfeld fans we knew we had to pop-in to see this.

The 3,500 square foot exhibit includes a complete recreation of Jerry’s infamous Upper West Side apartment for fans to tour – just the way it looked during Season 8 of the series. In addition to the apartment, the exhibit also included many artifacts from the show including the restaurant booth from Toms Diner, Puddy’s Devils’ jersey, and even George’s Frogger arcade machine.

Even more – it also offered photo opportunities such as a mock Comedy show stage as well a the Costanza’s infamous couch photo-shoot for “The timeless dance of seduction”.

The exhibit was incredible.
But as with anything free in NYC – the line was incredible as well.

We’re talking hours.

The natives were growing restless after a 2 hour+ wait. We were told by security that the lines have reached 2,500 people at times, wrapping around entire city block.

So how did we manage this line with toddler?
My (crazy?) husband woke up at the ass crack of dawn and stood in line starting at 8am. The exhibit opens at 10am. But crazy as he was he wasn’t alone – he was 25th in line.

Lil Kid and I showed up at about 9am. Daddy and him went for a coffee and croissant run while I took a turn at the line.

So was all this worth it? You betcha.

Lil Kid? Obviously he hasn’t seen a lot of Seinfeld in his day (we did however watch a couple shows with him before coming!) but he always enjoys an adventure and feeds off the energy of events. Waiting in line he was ecstatic, and kept asking when he could go in to explore.

For us? Incredible. Being in the apartment was surreal. Nostalgia and memories came rushing back from the show. Coming up to the famed door was exhilarating…

Into the kitchen. The attention to detail was incredible. The cereal boxes were always my favorite – I mean, really… who eats that much cereal?

The apartment detail was spot-on.

The infamous couch and coffee table.

After the exhibit – Photo opportunities galore! Here: Jerry’s comedy show stage that was always featured in the show. Lil Kid loved the mic  – we had to force him off stage.

The Slicer was one of my all time favorite episodes. Seeing this picture in person was a trip.

These pretzels are making me thirsty!

The famous Monk’s Café table and booth – It’s a shame that we couldn’t sit down but still awesome to see in person.
